FAQ on speaking at an SEOnerdSwitzerland event
Being a public speaker can be scary and we totally get it. We have been in the game for a while, so we have collected some of our best answers to the most common questions that hold folks back.
Public speaking is not for everyone, but if you are up to the challenge, we, at SEOnerdSwitzerland, are here to support you, for example through coaching and training (and we are kind).
I have never been a public speaker, what should I expect?
Speakers should anticipate around 5 working days of preparation across multiple phases. The experience includes an adrenaline rush during the presentation, a confidence boost from stepping outside your comfort zone, professional benefits in client presentations, and networking opportunities with organizers and the audience.
How to find a topic?
"Interesting is a subjective adjective, why not replace it with personal?" Think about what you have worked on in the past year. Your unique perspective matters regardless of how important you think it is. If you have tackled an interesting SEO problem, run an experiment, or developed a process that works, it's a talk.
I would like to be a public speaker but I am afraid of making a fool of myself.
Mistakes are normal when trying new things. Our organizers provide coaching, slide review support, and dry-run preparation to help you feel ready and confident.
I've never been a public speaker but I would like to. Why would I start at SEOnerdSwitzerland?
We offer a safe space and a friendly audience. We give slide feedback to ensure visual readability and public-speaking framing, plus dry-run coaching for pacing and timing. Our community is kind, curious and genuinely wants to learn from real-world experience.
How to write a compelling speaker pitch?
Focus on what you have personally experienced or learned. Tell us: what is the problem, what did you do about it, and what did you learn? A personal story is always more compelling than a generic overview of a topic.
Code of conduct for speakers
To keep our events great for everyone, we ask all speakers to follow these guidelines:
One promotional slide
You may include one slide about yourself or your company, either at the intro or outro of your talk. No product demos or lead capture during the session.
Stay true to your pitch
Keep your talk close to the topic you submitted. If something changes, let us know in advance.
Respect deadlines
Send us your slides and materials by the agreed date. This helps us prepare and promote your talk well.
Use inclusive language
Be mindful of your audience's diversity. Avoid jargon, assumptions about background, and anything that might exclude members of our community.
White hat SEO only
We do not platform talks promoting black hat or manipulative SEO techniques.
AI tools are fine, but the talk must be yours
Using AI for research or structuring your ideas is absolutely fine. Your talk must reflect your own experience and insights, not be generated wholesale by AI.
